To a non collector someone might say, "wow, you paid $15 for that weird nondescript nugget?" To the collector, I say this.. hard to find Cairo opaque.. Why hard to find? First, the short run of Cairo Novelty Co didn't produce many. Secondly, it would be nearly impossible for even a highly skilled collector (including myself) to pull a Cairo out of an opaque bucket of game marble swirls and confidently say it's a Cairo. There are signs, and I will detail them, but full disclosure, I wouldn't know half of my Cairo , Heaton and Jackson if I didn't get large lots of each from the digs. So the $15 here for a nondescript tan dropping comes with the on site authenticity, my knowledge and your learning experience. If you look closely, you can see the Cairo properties in this one, even though it's opaque... Sometimes one swirl end can almost look like Jabo Butt crack if you know what those look like Sometimes it can almost have a similar Swirl pattern to an MFC opaque, except they are not single gather with one continuous Swirl. Knowing this one came right from the Cairo dig makes it easy. That's not to say that all marbles found at dig sites ARE that marble maker, but it sure is a very heavy weighted probability. If this marble were perfectly round and without that asmade, the price would be much higher. No damage on this one, an asmade glass abnormality on one side and .04" oor .58"/.54"
