An interesting anecdote about same cane swirls. I only recently learned that Germans can be from the same cane, even if they are "upside down" What I mean by this is that the patterns only match when the pontil ends are in reverse to one another. I have discounted many a same cane because of this thinking they had to have been finished on the same side. However, the person who made the glass cane, the person who fired it and the person who finished the pontils, were many times all different people. The cutting of the cane could have already stopped mid process and be continued by someone else, perhaps in reverse So lesson learned, if they are identical patterns, even if the Faceted or finished pontil is on the opposite side of where the first one is, then they can absolutely still be same cane. Here is a perfect example with these two. Identical down to every colour and detail except they have been finished in reverse Mint- 9.3 on the first with just a pin prick and some asmade glass creases. 9.0 on the 2nd with a flea and two small moons
